OSP Seeking Information Regarding the Unlawful Closed Season Killing and Waste of a Cow Elk Near Oakridge

   The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish and Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help in solving a recent elk poaching incident northeast of Oakridge.

   On July 26, 2008, a dead cow elk was located on Willamette National Forest land in the Huckleberry Flats area northeast of Oakridge. According to OSP Senior Trooper Marshall Maher, it appeared the cow elk was shot in the neck and the whole carcass had been left to waste at the location.

   Anyone with information regarding this illegal elk kill during closed season investigation is asked to contact Senior Trooper Maher at (541) 782-4374.
