UPDATE: HSUS $2,500 REWARD OFFERED IN ILLEGAL ELK KILLING INVESTIGATION NEAR LINCOLN CITY

   The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division in Newport is continuing to ask for the public's assistance in locating the person or persons responsible for the unlawful take and waste of a five point bull elk in Lincoln County. In addition to a reward through the Turn in Poacher Program, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and The HSUS Wildlife Land Trust are offering a $2,500 reward to help solve this case.

UPDATE #2: REWARD INCREASES TO $3,500 INTO INVESTIGATION OF SIX ILLEGALLY KILLED DEER FOUND NEAR HEPPNER

  The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division in Heppner is continuing to ask for the public's assistance in locating the person or persons responsible for the unlawful take and waste of six deer in Morrow County. In addition to a reward offered through the Turn in Poacher Program and a local Heppner rancher, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and The HSUS Wildlife Land Trust offered $2,500 to boost the reward to $3,500 to help solve this case.

OSP Fish & Wildlife Troopers Investigate Illegal Killing of Five Deer near Heppner

 The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division in Heppner is seeking
 the public's assistance in locating the person or persons responsible for
 the unlawful take and waste of five deer in Morrow County.
 
 According to OSP Sergeant Tim Brown, troopers are currently investigating
 the unlawful killing of five deer including one whitetail doe and four mule
 deer does in the Heppner area. All five deer were killed between August
 20th and September 1st within five miles of the city limits of Heppner.
 
 Two deer were killed in Sanford Canyon, one deer in Lunceford canyon, one
 deer along Balm Fork Road and one deer on Sand Hollow Road. All of the deer
 appeared to have been killed in the same manner during evening hours on
 private property.
 
 'This type of random killing and senseless waste of several animals
 represents the most serious type of wildlife crime', said OSP Trooper Mike
 Mayer, lead investigator .
 
 A reward of up to $250.00 is being offered through the Turn in Poachers
 (TIP) program, which is administered through the Oregon Hunters Association,
 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).
 
 Any person with information in this case is asked to contact Trooper Mayer
 at (541) 561-7581 or the TIP hotline at 1-800-452-7888. Information may be
 kept anonymous.

Illegal Elk Kill Investigation southwest of Crow

Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is seeking the public's
 help to identify the suspect(s) responsible for the illegal killing and
 waste of two bull elk found Sunday in the Panther Creek area about 8 miles
 southwest of Crow.
 
 On August 24, 2008, OSP Senior Trooper Martin Maher responded to begin an
 investigation into a report of an illegally killed elk in the Panther Creek
 area southwest of Crow. A bull elk was found with only the antlers removed,
 and during the initial investigation the trooper found a second dead bull
 elk near the location of the first. Both elk were shot and left to waste.
